Hair Beauty Tip Experimentation

1) On a regular basis, nearly every single women's magazine on earth will include a tip in their beauty section: you don't want to wash your hair every day. I realize that the oils in your hair are good for maintaining it's health; I know that having a little dirt/grease in there makes your hair much more manageable; I know that people famous for beautiful hair do it this way. But it's hard to not think about how gross my hair would get as a teenager if I went more than a day without washing it: grease city. I have always been a regular hair washer. Until now. I decided to finally give it a shot and have only washed my hair twice in the last week. And I'm a believer. Within just this week, my hair feels several times stronger and more managaeble. It holds curl better, it's softer, and it makes for a much faster morning routine. If there are any other skeptics out there, I highly recommend you give it a shot. (Note: not washing your hair everyday does NOT mean don't shower everyday.)

2) A very popular look these days is beachy wavy hair. I have tried without a ton of success to achieve this look with varying hair lengths and varying techniques. I was reading hair tips online yesterday and read that a lot of people have had success getting this look using sea salt spray. The method I used: 1 tbs sea salt, 1/2 cup water, spray bottle, semi-damp hair, scrunching. Nothing. At all. I don't know if my technique or formula was off or if it's just not a good method all together. I'll probably try to work with it a little more before signing it off, but my first reaction is: worthless. (P.S. If any of you have suggestions, I'm open to experimentation.)

1-The not washing your hair every day thing, I'm definately a believer. Especially when when I straighten it, all that heat's not too good for the hair, so the longer it can last, the better.

2-I can't get beacy waves either. I think I have too much hair.

you want waves: move to texas! yo will have all of the texture and volume you could ever want. it is an urban myth that texan women spend money and time achieving that classic "dallas" look- it comes naturally down here.

I have experimented with my hair recently. I am not sure which dead animal's blood make my hair shine better. Any tips?

I just got a three barreled curling iron which is the only thing that has given me any kind of waves that stay...I find if I do it in the morning it starts off tight, but then loosens up and look just wavy by evening. I have to wash my hair every 24 hours though...otherwise I just feel gross. Ew. Oh, and by the way, I fail the little "letter test" every single time I try to leave a comment on your website. And I even click on the little handicapped thing thinking that maybe I am secret blurry image decoding handicapped, but it just moves the blurry image to the right a bit. How do I keep failing this....

You convinced me to try the hair washing experiment; I am converted. For those of you who would try it but feel too greasy, go ahead and give it a try. If you have grease problems, tussle a little baby powder through your hair/roots and brush out any whiteness. It's a good way to get past the grease stage. Trust me.
As for the beachy waves, I've never tried the salt thing myself. If I do give it a try, I will probably use just a little more salt than that and still use a little gel in addition to it. (I wonder if it would work to just put salt in my gel....) But what I usually do when I want that look is scrunch my hair up with a little product while it's wet and then secure it in a hair claw while it dries. My hair doesn't hold curl very well, so after about the first ten minutes, the kinkiness falls into a great beachy wave that usually stays for a good part of the day.
