Goodbye To The Good Years
Today is the last day I will ever be a resident of Centennial Apartments #328. It's been a hecka good year. Hands down the best roommate situation. Our motto has been "Go big or go home," and we've lived it well. From dressing up as the Spice Girls and dancing in the ward talent show complete with power point presentation in the background to throwing the best 80s party the world has ever known to wearing black apparel and severe buns and reciting Edgar Allen Poe to constructing the Salt Lake Temple out of cheese cubes to the photo shoot to the Sleigh Ride routine to making a pimp suit for Anderson Cooper the cat to...mercy, this has been an awesome year when it comes to being utterly ridiculous. I won't be living with any of them during the Spring/Summer. Goodbye, lovers!

Just because I was told I wasn't allowed to update my blog and had to do homework all day instead, but I didn't pinky swear I would...
A quick summary of my thoughts on the latest news stories:
- Don Imus should not have been fired. He's said a lot of things way worse than "nappy-headed hos" in his career and people expect that kind of thing from him. If you don't like it, don't listen to his show. All that has come out of this is the whole of America making "nappy-headed hos" jokes. I hope Al Sharpton is proud.
- If I were playing baseball against Virginia Tech, I'd feel obligated to lose.
- Everybody wanted the Duke lacrosse players to be guilty. Everybody likes to see well-off white boys brought down. Throw some sex and race issues into the mix and it's perfect. That story was drawn out for way too long on way too little evidence. What happened that night was actually fairly boring. What a shame.
- Donald and Rosie, again? Are you kidding me? Can anybody even think of two less likable people?
- We know who fathered Dannielynn...can this story finally be over now?
- I pretty much hate everybody running for president by this point. Already. It's going to be a long campaign.
- There is no way to make college campuses completely secure. If people want to spend more money to make us feel safer, put it into counseling and mentor programs, not metal detectors and police forces.

Two Questions:
1) What sort of music do street Latinos listen to? Your typical urban music is very black. Is that what Latinos listen to, too? Or do they have their own rap and hip hop and we just don't hear it because it's in Spanish? All I can think of when I think of Hispanic music is not very street: mariachi bands and Enrique Iglesis.
2) In the history of airtravel, has anyone's life actually been saved by the fact that their seat cushion can be used as a flotation device?

Massachusetts here I come...
I'm leaving tonight to go see Nishi in Massachusetts for a few days. I'm so excited. Not only do I get to see one of the best friends I've ever had again, but I'll also get to see a part of the country that I've never seen before. It'll be a good trip. A Red Sox game in historic Fenway Park, talking to Nishi about our respective boy problems, a Boston Duck Tour, talking to Nishi about our respective boy problems, shopping and eating in non-Provo/Orem establishments, talking to Nishi about our respective boy problems, etc. It should be good; I'm really excited.
I'm still trying to figure out what the heck I'm going to wear, though. It's such a tricky thing. I obviously need to look hot for Nishi, because she has known me since 7th grade, and the way I used to dress then...I don't even want to think about it. I know I've done a lot to prove that I'm not a total reject, but I'll forever be mildly self-conscious around anyone who knew me in middle school. They are such ugly years.
And for those that will miss me while I'm on vacation, here's a little something to cheer you up. It also, of course, reminds me of the Nishi years of life:

Thunderous Silence
Just an article from Sunday's Washington Post that I really liked (thanks to Emilee, who is of course a tremendous Joshua Bell fan, for bringing it to my attention):

Easter
I love/hate how every meal for several days after Easter consists mostly of chocolate.
I went to a Lutheran service after sacrament meeting yesterday. Melanie and Allison had an assignment to attend a service for a religion other than their own for India prep class, and Tony and I decided to tag along (we use Tony a lot because he has a vehicle). I think the idea is to accustom Melanie and Allison with participating with other religions because they'll be doing all sorts of that in India, but I really don't think Lutherans are similar enough to Hindus or Buddhists or Jains that it'll make a tremendous difference.
I don't care how old I get, I think I'll always find Easter egg hunts fun.

It's Disappointing
I've spent most of my life positive that I am more intelligent, interesting, insightful, etc., than everyone else. I hate those days or weeks when I'm not so sure. Most of my intelligence is fake anyway. I ought to be better than that (most people may not be, but I am).

One of those posts again: List of Thoughts
- It's a shame that they'll drag out the Jim/Pam thing until the end of time because it keeps people watching the show. All television romances suffer this fate. The most infuriating being, of course, Mulder/Scully. I love Jim Halpert.
- Today is a Frank Sinatra fan station day.
- I love stale Peeps. They are okay fresh, but you leave them out in the air a few days after Easter and they transform into an unmatched delicacy that I look forward to every year.
- It's Good Friday as well as April 6th (the anniversary of the orginization of the LDS church and the birth of Christ according to modern-day revelation). God has been good to this world.
- When I first started working at Check City, Friday lunch was Cafe Rio about twice a month. We were all so tired of it, but people kept on picking it. I was done with Cafe Rio, as delicious as it is. Well, it's been a couple months now without it, but it's what we're having it today and I'm quite excited.
- When I eat an apple I eat it to the core. As close as I can. I don't like wasting food.

NC
One thought about my life, though: Tony's seriously considering moving to North Carolina for the summer to sell security systems with some of his buddies. Go figure.
Laziness
Lately this blog has been mostly a forum for me to write ambitious draft posts that I never finish. I just can't pay attention to any subject long enough to post anything.
I've started and re-vamped one about Cheney coming to BYU so many times but haven't had the energy to make something worth reading. It'll come sometime before commencement, I expect, but then the topic will have been so over-discussed by that point that my view won't be worth much. I'd rather write something well than something timely, though. And that post about what a crazy/awesome month April is going to be will never be posted, because we'll be too far into April for it to be do-able.

Wisdom Teeth
I got my wisdom teeth out on Monday. I'm glad that they are no longer causing me pain and infections in my mouth and are instead in a nice paper envelope on the kitchen counter. They do better things for me there.
I've never appreciated the pretty shape of my cheeks and chin before now. I can't wait for the swelling to go down.
